Emergency Travel Documents (ETD)

If an Italian citizen not resident in Jerusalem or in the Palestinian Territories is in an emergency situation (for example, a tourist in transit who suffers the theft / loss of the passport), the General Consulate of Italy in Jerusalem may issue a temporary travel document, ETD (Emergency Travel Document) to return to Italy or in the country of permanent residence.
To request an ETF it is necessary that the applicant appears personally at the Consulate General with the following documentation:
– ETD request form, which will be provided by the office (note: applications sent directly by the applicants will not be accepted, due to the impossibility of identifying them);
– n. 2 frontal photographs in color, card format, according to the model available here;
– an original identification document (eg driving license, boat license, etc.); AS AN ALTERNATIVE, photocopy of the stolen / lost document or photocopy of another document with photograph; AS AN ALTERNATIVE, in the absence of original documents or photocopies, the presence of two witnesses, provided with identity documents, who are able to identify the undocumented person;
– air ticket, or printing of the travel reservation, or boarding pass;
– receipt of payment for the ETD fare – € 1.55 – equivalent to ILS 6, to pe paid cash in Israeli Shekels..

In the case of ETDs to be issued in favor of minors, an act of assent issued in writing by the parents is required, plus a copy of the documentation proving the filiation (for example a “family state”).
