The Visa Office of Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem handles the issuance of visas allowing applicants’ entrance into Italy /EU Schengen Area.

Who can apply for a visa to Italy?
People legally residing in the area of competence of the Italian Consulate General in Jerusalem.

Please check the following lists:
• countries whose citizens are subject to the visa obligation
• countries whose citizens are exempt from the visa requirement for short stays
• countries whose citizens are subject to the airport transit visa

SCHENGEN VISA (up to 90 days)

Where to apply ?

Applications can be lodged at the Visa Office of the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem (Katamon-16, Kaf Tet Benovember St., Jerusalem – 9104402). Appointments shall be booked using the online appointment booking system “Prenot@Mi”.

For applicants who cannot reach the Consulate, applications can be lodged at the “VFS Global” visa application center in Ramallah. For more information, please visit the VFS Ramallah website.
Applications at the Visa Centers in Ramallah for the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem can only be submitted by appointment.
VFS Visa Center in Gaza is closed until further notice.

It is strongly advisable to write at least one month before the scheduled departure.

Prior to the appointment, applicants have to fill the online application form, to be printed (with the bar code) and brought to the appointment.

For applicants who cannot reach the Consulate, applications can be lodged at the “VFS Global” visa application center in Ramallah.

Please note that scheduling an appointment is free of charge. Anyone offering appointments upon payment must be reported to the Consulate General.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED FOR THE MAIN SCHENGEN VISA TYPES

Make sure to gather all the documents needed for the kind of visa you wish to apply for by checking the relevant lists:

Applicants may be asked to present any other document deemed appropriate to process the application. The Consulate General shall report to the Italian judiciary any case of forged document submitted in support of a visa application (art. 331 and 332 of the Italian code of criminal procedure).

IMPORTANT NOTE: please, provide also a photocopy of each document – passport included and previous Shenghen visas – submitted together with the visa application.

Consular Visa fees

Visa fees change every three months and can only be paid cash, in Shekels, at the moment of the application.

Schengen visa fee waiver:

  • Study Visa up to 90 days
  • children under six years
  • school pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training,
  • researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research as defined in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 to facilitate the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research
  • representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations;
  • EU-citizens family members, when accompanying or joining the EU relative, falling under Directive 2004/38/CE and Italian Legislative Decree 6 February 2007, n. 30:

a) the spouse;

b) the partner with whom the Union citizen has contracted a registered partnership, on the basis of the legislation of a Member State, if the legislation of the host Member State treats registered partnerships as equivalent to marriage and in accordance with the conditions laid down in the relevant legislation of the host Member State;

c) the direct descendants who are under the age of 21 or are dependents and those of the spouse or partner as defined in point b);
d) the dependent direct relatives in the ascending line and those of the spouse or partner as defined in point b).

Applicants are informed that no rush fee is foreseen. Applicants are warned against anybody who, claiming contacts in the Visa Office, promises facilitations of issuance of visas in exchange for money or other benefits.

Visa Information System-VIS

The Visa Information System (VIS) is a system for the exchange of visa data between Schengen area States. The establishment of the VIS is a key element of the European Union’s visa policy, aimed at creating an area of freedom, security and justice without internal borders.

NATIONAL VISA (more than 90 days)

Following the entry into force of Decree-Law 145/2024, as of 11 January 2025, it will be mandatory to collect the fingerprints of applicants for both Schengen visas (type C) and national entry visas (type D). Applicants will therefore be required to request an appointment and appear in person when submitting their visa application.

Exemption from fingerprinting is provided for a limited number of visa applicants: children under the age of 12 and people for whom fingerprinting is physically impossible.

Please Note: 

Applicants are reminded that the visa application can be submitted exclusively either at the Headquarter of the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem or at the VFS agency in Ramallah. There are no other channels other than those mentioned above for applying for visas to Italy. Applicants are urged to be wary of those who propose intermediary channels for submitting visa applications and/or those who, boasting of having internal contacts in the Visa Office, promise visa facilitation in exchange for sums of money or other benefits.
