Legalization makes documents originating in other countries valid in Italy.
To be valid in Italy, acts and documents issued by foreign authorities must be legalized by Italian diplomatic-consular missions abroad.
- Israeli documents
The original documents issued by the Israeli Authorities must be legalized with an “apostille” by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem.
The documents thus legalized must be translated into Italian by one of the translators included in the reference translators list of the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem. The translation shall be subsequently certified by the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem.
Israeli documents issued in English – or documents issued in language other than Hebrew or English (e.g. acts of civil status in French, Spanish, etc. – must be translated only from one of the notaries listed in the translators list from English or one of the other languages to the Italian language.
After this procedure the Israeli document will be valid in Italy.
- Palestinian Documents
The original documents issued by the Palestinian Authorities must be legalized by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ramallah and subsequently legalized by the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem.
The documents, which can be accepted only if issued in Arabic language, must be also translated into Italian by one of the translators included in the list of translators available at the Ramallah Ministry of Justice. The translator’s signature must be legalized by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, subsequently, by the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem.
After this procedure the Palestinian document will be valid in Italy.
IMPORTANT
All documents to be legalized must be lodged at the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem together with the form for the request of legalization, which must be duly filled in each section.
Should the documents be lodged without or with an incomplete form they will be rejected.
