Amendment of the Italian legislation on consent to the issuance of passport/identity card in the presence of minor children

Notice is given to the parents of children under 18 years that, starting from 14 June 2023, it is no longer necessary to present the act of consent of the other parent for the purpose of issuing their identity document (passport and ID card), pursuant to Decree Law no. 69/2023. For the issuance of their document it will be sufficient that parents with minor offspring self-certify that they are not subject to an injunction to the issuance of the passport.

The application can be submitted to the competent judge at the ordinary Court where the minor has his usual residence or, if the minor is resident abroad, the Court in whose district his A.I.R.E. municipality is located.

For the purposes of issuing documents for minors, however, the obligation of consent signed by both parents or by those who exercise parental responsibility remains.
