Political Cooperation

The establishment of the Consulate General in Jerusalem, after the First World War, sealed the historic and deep-rooted Italian presence in the Holy Land.

This perspective also frames today’s cooperation with the Palestinian government and local authorities, with whom Italy maintains profitable relations, in a wide spectrum of activities and contacts including economy, culture and development cooperation.

Italy keeps investing in such efforts, in light of the paramount importance of the Mediterranean basin for our foreign policy, in which the Middle East plays a strategic role.
