A business-to-business event hosted by Confindustria (the Italian Business Association) has closed, today in the afternoon in Rome, the 3rd Italian-Palestinian intergovernmental meeting. The Ministerial meeting took place at the Italian Foreign Ministry, focusing on regional political issues, starting from the Peace Process and the latest developments following the recent President Abbas’ visit to Saudi Arabia. Bilateral cooperation has also been discussed, with the signing of nine agreements in the fields of training for Palestinian Security Forces (the head of Carabinieri also attended), trade, education, protection of cultural heritage and tourism, development cooperation.
In the margins of the Ministerial meeting, a seminar was also held on the Italian-Palestinian cooperation on the protection of cultural heritage. The seminar, opened by Foreign Ministers Alfano and Malki, highlighted the deeply-rooted presence of Italian experts engaged in the preservation of sites of historical interest in Palestine: from Nablus to Jericho, from Tulkarem to Hebron and Bethlehem as well, where an Italian group is working on the restoration of the Nativity Church.
In the afternoon, at the Confindustria’s headquarters, the 2nd Italian-Palestinian Joint Business Forum took place, in the presence of the Minister of Economy Odeh and co-chaired by the President of Confindustria Giovani (Young Businessmen Association) Alessio Rossi and Susan Khoury, Palestinian Federation of Business Association and Bank of Palestine, with the participation of businessmen from the two sides.
