Ramallah, 18-21 February

The first Italian-Palestinian Joint Business Forum (JBF) has ended Tuesday after 2 days of fruitful meetings. The Forum has been sponsored by this Consulate General, the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy, Confindustria Young Entrepreneurs, Palestinian Federation of Business Associations and Bank of Palestine.

The cooperation agreement was signed in Ramallah on February 18 by Marco Gay, President of Confindustria Young Entrepreneurs, and Samir Zraiq, President of the Palestinian Federation of Businessmen Associations. The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Economy, Abeer Odeh, the Consul General of Italy and the President of the Bank of Palesatine, Hashim Shawa, co-Charmain of the Forum together with Marco Gay.

The entrepreneurs have had a number of opportunities for networking and B2B meetings with Palestinian businessmen from North and South Palestine. The delegation visited the Business Forum in Nablus, the Agro-industrial area of Jericho and the Multidisciplinary Industrial Area of Bethlehem.

In Bethlehem, the businessmen have also had a long meeting with the Minister of Antiquities and Tourism, Rula Maa'ya. They discussed in depth the business opportunities in Bethlehem and in the rest of Palestine, with a specific focus on the investment prospects in the tourism sector, both in Bethlehem and East Jerusalem. During the meeting, the Consul General and the President Gay stressed how the concept of “innovation”, combined with the Italian tradition in the preservation of cultural heritage, was one of the most important key-words throughout the entire JBF.

And the good news is that, following the JBF, there are already three collaborations under development between Italian and Palestinian firms.
